I grew up constantly sketching fashion designs, but I had no idea how to materialize my sketches. Since, I have developed my skills in apparel design through personal projects and formal courses at the Portland Fashion Institute.<\/span><\/p>\n

DETACHED was my debut collection presented at the MESH Fashion Show in May of 2022. I decided last minute to show a collection amidst the chaos of producing the show itself.\u00a0 It was truly a test of my attention to detail with model castings, fittings, and styling the pieces in such a short time frame.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I created a capsule of 4 distinct looks which challenged my knowledge of textiles, pattern-making, and construction techniques. Designed in a time of navigating the meaning of self identity, relationships, and home each look explores disconnect in both a figurative and literal sense through a common theme of detached gloves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

A harmonization of South Asian and western styles to bring together a playful look and serve as an ode to my younger self. Details include straight cut pants, button-down top & arm gloves. The white top was designed as a modern take on an Indian style blouse and the puff sleeves are finished with strips of traditional mirror work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A twist on a traditional Indian lehenga set. Top details include a button down front, collared halter neck, and triple bow-back made from printed saari fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Satin gown with tulle overlay & velvet gloves. <\/strong>Gown details include a double satin lining, tie-halter neck, plunge neckline, low back, and high leg slit. Fabric for the tulle overlay skirt is upcycled from a thrifted wedding dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
